Arbitrage Real Estate actively supported University of Reading's School of Real Estate and Planning MSc Field Trip in Athens, during 18-22 May 2015. The School of Real Estate and Planning is part of Henley Business School at the Univeristy of Reading and is the European market leader in Real Estate Education and Research (www.henley.ac.uk/rep ).
Arbitrage set up and moderated an experts' panel entitled “Key Market Insight”, consisted of Paul Gomopoulos, Managing Director at Hines Europe, Ioannis Ganos, Investment Director at Bluehouse Capital and Tassos Kotzanastasis, Managing Director at 8G Capital Partners. The discussion was moderated by Nikos Kountouriotis, Principal at Arbitrage Real Estate. The audience was comprised of more than 150 students from over 25 countries with a wide blend of backgrounds.
The participants had the opportunity to gain some real insights into the Greek and global real estate market, to learn about current weaknesses and inefficiencies and to discuss investment opportunities in real estate recovery markets.
During the panel discussion, the experts exchanged views on current planning and taxation regimes, attractive asset classes, market fundamentals and the local market performance in comparison to the broader CEE and SEE markets. The panel also spoke about the national systemic banks and their asset management strategies in regards to NPLs and REO portfolios.
