RenoValue is a 2-year project funded by the Intelligent Energy Programme of the European Union, through which a training tool kit has been developed, able to assist valuation professionals to assess the impact of sustainability factors on property values.
The lack of empirical validation and appropriate comparable sales information requires valuation professionals to apply qualitative judgement, in order to determine the extent to which sustainability features impact on property value. Hence, the development of the RenoValue training material will improve the identified knowledge and skills gap by determining how energy efficiency and renewable energy issues are treated in a valuation context.
RenoValue project partners believe that the training material will provide practitioners with a more profound knowledge base regarding the impact of sustainability features on various economic building performance aspects, respective information sources, as well as methodological and theoretical guidance. Among the project partners were RICS, CBRE and SKANSKA.
The material developed consists of a set of slides, translated in 8 languages, to be used as training support by professional training providers, professional valuation organisations and other real estate market participants. In addition, the aforementioned slides have acted as a basis for the development of an E-Learning course accessible via the RICS Online Learning Academy.
